I looked enough to see your name.  The people who make what they
consider official Linux packages are no less proud of their efforts
or contemptuous of what they consider random BSD distributions.

That is good and comforting to hear.

As I said, considerations of real users are why I released what I did.

There are trade-offs in everything and often the right answer to a
request is "No."
